The Costa Rica Surfing at Mal Pais and Santa Teresa offer some of the best surf spots in Costa Rica. The area has a variety of world class breaks while surfing conditions and water temperatures are ideal throughout the year. This Costa Rica Surf package was designed for those who may have a travel companion that does not surf or is traveling with their family.

The main Costa Rica surf beach, Playa El Carmen, is on the border between Malpais and Santa Teresa. It has a good set of sand bars which offer nice lefts and slightly longer rights.The waves tend to get heavier, faster and steeper as you head north where the beaches become less crowded. Here you should just watch out for submerged rocks in the sea.

Malpais is a calm surf village whose charming hotels and restaurants are loosely spread along three kilometers of road. At the southern end, it borders the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve while to the north it merges with Santa Teresa where you can find shops, tourist facilities and a vibrant surfer scene.

Although the hotel is located outside of Mal Pais, it is an ideal place to stay as there are several activities you can do while you're there such as Horse Back Ridding, Sea Kayak, Sport Fishing, or just keep surfing.  Playa Caletas is considered among the best Costa Rica surfing beaches, but you might want to visit the surrounding beaches that are also good surfing spot.
