This
Costa Rica budget surf package is designed for those who
are arriving late into San Jose![]()
or who have an early
departing flight. Either way you will have your own 4x4
vehicle to make the drive to surfing beach of Playa Grande
in the northwest part of Costa Rica. You will spend your
first or last night at the the Irazu
Hotel, ideally located both near the airport
but close enough to downtown so you can check out
the shops, bar and restaurants in San Jose.
The
other 6 nights you will stay at the popular Bula
Bula Hotel in Playa Grande. Hotel Bula Bula is located in Playa
Grande, on the Pacific Northwest of Costa Rica. The 5 kilometer
white sand beach boasts one of the most consistent surf breaks in
Costa Rica and is known for incredible barrels. The nearly private
beach is also a terrific place to unwind and collect seashells.
Tamarindo, a town featured in the surfing movie Endless Summer II is
just across the estuary. The Hotel is on the Tamarindo estuary
(where the Pacific ocean extends inland to meet the mouth of the Rio
Matapalo) and about a 5 minute walk to the beach. Playa Grande is an exposed
beach break just north of Tamarindo with a hollow peak that can get crowded at the main peak. But there
are plenty of fun lefts & rights on the outside ref. &
beach break. This break is best at mid - high tide with offshore flow.
As with all Costa Rica surf packages at Tico
Travel, this surf package can also be modified to fit your schedule, so
if you can only stay for 5 days or maybe you want to stay 10. You can
also change the type of car you need, if you prefer something other
then the Bego
or Rav 4.
