Costa Rica Tour of the Monteverde Cloud Forest
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is a private reserve,
property of the Tropical Science Center. It was established in 1972,
covers over 10,500 hectares, mostly virgin forest. Monteverde means
"green mountain" in Spanish.It contains over 2,500 plant species, 100 species of mammals, 400 bird
species, 120 reptilian and amphibian species, and thousands of insects.The reserve is located beside the town of Santa Elena, where most of the services and commerce is. The buses from San Jose arrive at this town and numerous hotels are located in this area. Another reserve is nearby: Santa Elena Reserve. Costa Rica Tour Details: Tour Day 1: Your Costa Rica tour begins with a morning pick up by your tour driver for transfer to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, one of the most diverse and richest tropical cloud forests in the New World. It is best known as home to the Resplendent Quetzal but has hundreds of other birds, mammals and plant species. Overnight at Hotel Fonda Vela or similar. Tour Day 2: Today you will enjoy a guided hike in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve viewing the misty forest with its dense vegetation and majestic trees. Overnight at Hotel Fonda Vela or similar. Tour Day 3: Either a morning or early afternoon transfer back to San Jose.
