Tortuguero & Costa Rica Tropical Forest Tour
8 days/7 nights

Day 1:  Your Costa Rica Tour starts at the Costa Rica Airport with a meet & greet and transfer to hotel. Overnight in San Jose.

Day 2: Morning pick up for your drive through Braulio Carillo National Park to the canals lining the Atlantic Coast where you board a boat for the trip to the Tortuguero Canals through 50 km of tropical rain forest. Late afternoon arrival at Tortuguero. Dinner and overnight at a Lodge in the Tortuguero area.

Day 3: Enjoy a two to three hour boat ride touring the backwater canals of Tortuguero National Park with a local guide to observe the flora and fauna. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy optional activities and tours, a walk to the village or a visit to the museum. Overnight Mawamba Lodge or similar.

Day 4: After breakfast, transfer to the Tortuguero airstrip for a 30-minute flight back to San Jose.Upon arrival you will be met by your driver/guide for scenic drive to Arenal Volcano, stop en route at La Paz Waterfall Gardens for an up close view at a system of 5 different waterfalls and also for lunch. After lunch continue to Arenal. Dinner and overnight at the Arenal Observatory Lodge.

The Observatory Lodge, which is only 1.6 miles south of the volcano, gives visitors an impressive view of this giant, which rumbles and erupts with spectacular displays of vapor and lava. The Observatory is the only lodge situated within the Arenal Volcano National Park, which encompasses thousands of acres of pristine rainforest and teems with tropical birds and wildlife. Day 5:Morning hike in the National Park and a close-up exploration of a lava flow.Mid-morning departure, driving around Lake Arenal to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, one of the richest and most diverse tropical cloud forests in the New World. It is best known as home to the Resplendent Quetzal but also protects hundreds of other birds, mammals and plant species. Overnight in Monteverde at Hotel Fonda Vela or similar.

Day 6: In the morning, visit the Skywalk, it's an unforgettable experience, the excitement of looking to one side and seeing the tops of the trees and at the same time feel the sensation of walking among the clouds. SkyWalk is a complex of suspension bridges and platforms constructed within cloud forest.

The principal objective is to offer a different observational perspective of tropical forest, as a new alternative in tourism for nature lovers. In the afternoon, hike through the reserve viewing the misty forest with its dense vegetation and majestic trees. Overnight in Monteverde at Hotel Fonda Vela or similar.

Day 7: Morning transfer back to San Jose. Overnight San Jose Hotel Don Carlos or similar.

Day 8: Airport transfer for return flight home.
